Fort Hood Islamic Terrorist Shooting?

Never one to reserve judgement...

The mainstream media are posting reports like the one linked below, reporting that "Army officials are not saying whether this shooting is related to repeated deployments or mental distress" as if THREE shooters (as reported right now though only two appear confirmed so far) would all snap on the same day and time and begin shooting up their own base.

I'll go out on a limb and say that it is a home grown terrorist cell in the first "successful" attacks on American soil. I could be wrong but that's my snap judgement with the information on hand and I think its a pretty good guess...Better at least than what NBC and the AP are babbling about currently...

Update:
Shocker...looks like I was right. The first confirmed shooter, who is dead, went by the name Malik Nadal Hasan. He may have been an Islamic convert but is unquestionably of Islamic faith. When will we learn...

It's obvious that the shooters dedication to Islam played a minor role in the shooting, and it has been confirmed that hick soldiers harassed him on a routine basis, but I disagree with you that this was a "terrorist act,"- just another example of someone losing their shit. an interesting perspective from Al Jazeera :http://english.aljazeera.net/news/americas/2009/11/200911641042388762.html

good post, you should write about these subjects more often

Agreed it was not a terrorist act. That was my original analysis upon initial reports that there were three gunmen...

His dedication to Islam however I believe played a major role in the shooting. To be yelling "Allah Akbhar" while doing the shootings, expressing his reluctance to perform his military duties due to his religon and expressing sympathy/similar ideals with suicide bombers indicates that yes, he was off his rocker but also that his Islamic faith and his growing allegiance to Islam over his country were substantial contributing factors in this event.

It's sad to say, but looks like you're probably right that, as more and more information emerges, his Islamic allegiances will be proven the major motivation. While not the greatest fan of it's teaching, Islam is so misunderstood and this shit just feeds the fire.
