So the event has now crossed into Africa. Gone are the tight and twisty WRC style stages and now the competitors are into true African desert terrain.
Speaking of competitors, the numbers of those still running are getting lower and lower...Attrition is now at near 50% with only 20 of the originally 39 entrants in the top class beginning Stage 6 with 4 long stages to go. Good news for our Nissan Pathfinder of Helder Oliveira as he continues to run strong and sits in third overall, 17 minutes ahead of 4th and 22 minutes out of first. The American made Silverado of Eric Vigoroux is more in its element here in the desert, finishing 2nd on todays stage and has moved into 5th overall.
