ABSA Off Road 4x4 Mega World 400

South African Nissans had another solid outing this weekend in the ABSA Off Road racing series and are now, again, at the top of the season standings. The Nissan's reliability was again the largest contributing factor in their performance as all of the other top teams--Duncan Vos and his factory Toyota Hilux, Chris Visser and his factory Ford Ranger, Anthony Taylor and his factory Toytoa Hilux and lastly the factory BMW of Hannes Grobler, all DNF'd due to various mechanical issues.

While the Nissan's did not win the event (that went to Toyota Hilux of Pikkie Labuschagne) they performed well enough that in combination with event wins and top finishes earlier this year they moved significantly up the overall standings with Thomas Rundle and Juan Mohr and the Barden Tyres Services Nissan finishing seventh in the event, they move up into first overall for the 2011 off road championship while the Regent Racing Navara of Terence Marsh finished the event in fifth, moving them to a tie for second in the overall standings. Mike Whitehouse and the other Regent Racing Nissan Navara had the best finish of a Nissan in the event, coming across in fourth in the event and are also in fourth for the year.
