8th O.R.C. BAJA SLOVAKIA 2010 starting this month

Only two weeks left before a start of the 8th Baja Slovakia®, the only Slovak cross country rally.

For the third consecutive year the rally will take part in a Military area Záhorie. Although some changes were made to initial plans, character of the rally remains. The heart of route lies in a broad sandy area where hundreds of kilometers divided into three race days await competitors. Challenging terrain is popular mainly amongst the Czech competitors who regularly take part in famous Dakar Rally. They often visit this area during a year and test their vehicles in a terrain similar to real desert.

8th Baja Slovakia® is a part of the Cup of Slovak Republic, International championships of Czech Republic and Poland and FIA Central European Zone for CCR. Many teams fighting for front positions in various European championships are expected, including last year winner Balázs Szalay and runner-up Erik Korda, both Hungarian. Czech top team Offroadsport.cz has promised to bring three cars. Five-time winner of Dakar Rally in quad category - Josef Macháček - is planning to start with a new light-weight buggy. Also competitors from Romania and Croatia have showed an interest to start for the first time.

Headquarters of the rally will be located at a civilian airport in Senica. There will be placed also the service area where fans are welcome to take a close look at racers and their machines. They will be able to see them in action on the track of special stage near to the airport.

8th Baja Slovakia® is organized by Raid Adventure Team with support of Volkswagen Slovakia, a.s. General partner of the event is O.R.C. Ltd., a provider of the biggest e-shop with off-road accessories with long-time expertise in the area of off-road cars’ modification.
