Yours Truly on the Nissan Nation Podcast!

Yup...interviewed about the NISMO Stuff Racing Frontier, its history, its present and its future.  Great working with Daniel Grooters (who has his own Nissan racing effort underway) and David Boyd to do this.  Keep up the good work boys!

Scroll down here to play episode 37 of their podcast where my long segment is.

Print Your Own Carbon Fiber Racing Parts And More...

Look for this company to be gobbled up by one of the big 3D printing companies (fingers crossed for Stratasys as I'm a stockholder!) in the near future.  While the other 3D printers have to date been primarily been working with Nylon and ABS of various consistencies MARKFORG3D has finagled a way to do 3D printing with carbon fiber and other high strength materials.

As you can see in the video you can now print your own mountain bike forks, spoilers for your Subaru, and, using their Kevlar option, your own bullet proof vest.  So the 3D printing world has now come a bit full circle...the big story about half way through '13 was that Defense Distributed had produced a working design for using a 3D printer to produce your own "printable" gun (never mind that anyone has had the capability to make a simple zip-guns out of home material for ages) and now the big story "should" be that you can now print yourself your own bodyarmor.  Though I doubt you'll here much about this as its not as sexy a story.

Regardless, its something that shows the rapid advances in capabilities and material use that the 3D printing industry is going through right now.  Whoa unto those who are not aware of or taking advantage of this transformative technology--every aftermarket shop should have one of these in their "wish list"...

2014 Tokyo Auto Salon--Nissan Models

The Tokyo Auto Salon takes place the weekend of 1/10/14 and is Japan's answer to SEMA, showcasing not only concept and tricked out versions of vehicles from the major manufacturers but those from aftermarket companies as well.

Nissan is a regular attendee and '14 will be no exception.  As is typical the models being presented range from the hardcore race ready to the merely whimsical.  Japan has a love for what we probably would deem to be "silly" vehicles (Hello Kitty adorned kei cars for instance) but...it sure keeps things interesting.

Two GT-R models will be present including the GT-R Nismo GT500 racer that competes in Japan's Super GT Series and a GT-R Nismo with a special option package tuned for the Nurburgring.

The Deltawing derived ZEOD RC that is due to enter LeMans will be present as will the X-trail X-tremer concept (the future Xterra here in the States??  Perhaps).

Less hardcore are the Aero Style Leaf, Nissan March NISMO S and a gold and pink accented Dayz Roox Highway Star (a Mitsubishi co-produced product) amongst others.  So, if this isn't anything revolutionary at least it gives us something to look at direct from Nissan.  Hopefully there will be some other non-factory related showings as well.

Nissans at SEMA 2013??

Anyone??  Anyone??

I've got very little so far.  With the GT-R craze having been going on for a few years and no new major sporty or offroad oriented models in the immediate past you might see a few Nissan Jukes but I don't think much beyond that and the aforementioned GT-Rs.

Next year might be big for Nissan at SEMA with the potential for the new Titan, new GT-R, new BR-Z competitor and other models introduced in '14.

There is however, hold your breath, some new running board products for the 2013+ Nissan Pathfinder!  Evidently ATS is showing off some of this product at the upcoming, annual, glitz-fest that is SEMA.

Impul Aftermarket Kitted Nissan Versa Note

The Japanese aftermarket company that only produces aftermarket products for Nissans has released a number of items for the Nissan Note which is known as the Nissan Versa Note here in the US.

Available will be upgraded shocks and springs, brakes, stainless steel exhaust, full body aero kit, spoiler and more.

I might skip on the faux chrome vents but the functional items??  Not bad for what might be a nice little hot hatch if they release an SSS or NISMO version.

New NISMO Dual Exit Exhaust for Titan...

Surprised this hasn't come out before now.  Being able to finance it into the cost of the vehicle in its initial purchase is a plus as well.  Well...its a benefit until I find out how much it costs which could be quite inflated.

Still, the exhaust looks really nice and the additional 11 HP and 8 ft. lbs of torque are pretty good for a simple exhaust upgrade.  Its also covered by a 3 year warranty.  If I had a Titan to tow my race truck with, I'd be looking to grab one!

New Bumper Coming to a Nissan Frontier Near You...

well, closer to me than you actually...but you get the drift.

Brandon over at BTF Fabrication has the frame horns done at the moment and is finishing up the rest of the bumper currently.  It should ship within a couple weeks.

The 32" LED lightbar I showed a couple weeks ago will be mounted on the top of this bumper, as will two HIDs, ensuring optimum lighting and providing a bit of protection to my radiator/underside that I have previously lacked.  The front of my NISMO Stuff Racing Frontier is completely bare at the moment--no skid, no lower bumper cover, nothing...just the bare steel bumper...

As always, Brandon's work is top notch and beautiful to behold.  In the end, the bumper should look quite similar (though not exact) to the one seen on Gil Green's Frontier seen below except with a lasercut BTF logo in the front skid.
