Print Your Own Carbon Fiber Racing Parts And More...

Look for this company to be gobbled up by one of the big 3D printing companies (fingers crossed for Stratasys as I'm a stockholder!) in the near future.  While the other 3D printers have to date been primarily been working with Nylon and ABS of various consistencies MARKFORG3D has finagled a way to do 3D printing with carbon fiber and other high strength materials.

As you can see in the video you can now print your own mountain bike forks, spoilers for your Subaru, and, using their Kevlar option, your own bullet proof vest.  So the 3D printing world has now come a bit full circle...the big story about half way through '13 was that Defense Distributed had produced a working design for using a 3D printer to produce your own "printable" gun (never mind that anyone has had the capability to make a simple zip-guns out of home material for ages) and now the big story "should" be that you can now print yourself your own bodyarmor.  Though I doubt you'll here much about this as its not as sexy a story.

Regardless, its something that shows the rapid advances in capabilities and material use that the 3D printing industry is going through right now.  Whoa unto those who are not aware of or taking advantage of this transformative technology--every aftermarket shop should have one of these in their "wish list"...

Form Over Function...

This one is for my Canadian peeps!

Since we here in the States won't be getting the Micra this won't apply here--though the belief behind it will.

Prolific Nissan tuner company Impul has released its body kit for the Micra at the recent Tokyo Auto Salon...and boy is it a doosie.

Putting a whole host of non-functional wings, body cladding, side skirts, LEDs and other knicknacks, the Impul kit transforms your run of the mill Micra into something this side of a bad dream.  There are no engine or suspension improvements found here....just lots of plastic to make your car heavier and more Matchbox-esque.  Still...all these body modification might make your Micra into a serviceable driveway plow if you lowered the thing by a few inches and put some studded tires on it...

Nissan GT-R at SEMA 2013

And another!  This LB Performance/EGarage GT-R is coming to SEMA along with a sister Ferrari.  Now none of these SEMA Nissans really interest me all that much...I've seen a gazillion GT-Rs and silly wheels on a Quest or sidesteps on a Pathfinder just don't get me excited.

This GT-R does look pretty cool though with racing slicks, wide fenders and a lowered stance.  I also like the grey paint choice.  It looks like a purpose driven race vehicle and not something done just for show.

Impul Aftermarket Kitted Nissan Versa Note

The Japanese aftermarket company that only produces aftermarket products for Nissans has released a number of items for the Nissan Note which is known as the Nissan Versa Note here in the US.

Available will be upgraded shocks and springs, brakes, stainless steel exhaust, full body aero kit, spoiler and more.

I might skip on the faux chrome vents but the functional items??  Not bad for what might be a nice little hot hatch if they release an SSS or NISMO version.
