Anyone ID This Motorcycle?

Its being piloted by a member of Hezbollah within the Qalamoun mountains in Southern Syria as part of their fight on the side of the Syrian government (having crossed from Lebanon into Syria) and against the Islamic based "rebels" there.  Looks like some nice aftermarket HIDs on there too.

Also noticed here is the nice truck mounted Katyusha rocket launcher in the background.  Good to see WWII Soviet technology still working out so well!

Its About Time! BTF Prerunner Bumper, LED Light Bar and Window Net...

Whew...I was beginning to think these would never get done...

But done (mostly) they are. Bumper came in about two weeks ago, window net about a month ago and the light bar just today.

I still have to wire up the lightbar but its installation, as well as that of the BTF Prerunner bumper couldn't have been simpler.  A few bolts and done...simple as pie.

The bumper is beefy without being overkill and will provide a great place to mount lights while protecting the radiator and other delicate components in the front of the truck.  It also hugs the body lines of the truck perfectly and required no adjustments to the fitment of any of the body of the truck.  There are two additional tabs on the bottom side of the hoop that goes over the LED bar which will see two nice HID lights attached in the near future as well giving me a mix of some of the best of both worlds.

The lightbar I won't have more to report back on until it is wired and I can see what a difference to nighttime driving it will make.

The window net was the most difficult to install given it required some welding of the mounting tabs, but it was still straightforward.  I have a few items remaining before my first rally of the year coming up in two weeks but none are earthshattering.  Hope you like the look and setup.

BTF Prerunner Bumper for Nissan Frontier...

I actually picked this up from the Greyhound depot last weekend though I was in LA and SF this past week and had zero time to unwrap it or take a peak at it.  This weekend was a bit calmer and I got a clean look at it.

It came painted (powdercoated?) which I wasn't expecting as it was never brought up and I assumed like most fabbed items in CA and the Southwest, there is little need for protection against rust.
Additionally the light tabs for both the LED bar and the HIDs I have planned for the bumper look like they are in perfect position.  The front skid is also a nice added bit of protection for some of the delicate bits of the truck that formerly were quite exposed.

Given the improving weather and temperatures I am hoping to have this mounted within the next week.  Will continue to provide updates.

Front Bumper Done, Shipping Soon...

The BTF front bumper for the NISMO Stuff racing Frontier is finally complete.  The picture here is without its skid plate which will be bolted on before shipping.  The additional center hoop will see two HIDs hang down from it while underneath them, mounted to the main tube will sit an LED bar.  I will need to spray the tube with an anti-rust coating and then a black topcoat of some type for additional protection.  The bare steel might work in the desert but not here in the humid, wet, salty, Northeast.

If anyone has a recommendation for the best (read cheapest) way to ship this bumper I would love to hear it as I haven't had anything this large shipped in many a year and BTF usually works on local projects and doesn't have a great deal of experience in shipping items this large.

Once "home" I'll update here with more pictures of it and its install as well as the lights and wiring duties.

Front Bumper & Lights Update

Its coming along nicely on the other side of the country.  The photo here is of a second customer of BTF's bumper.  This bumper should be identical to mine except for the lasercut logo in the skidplate.  While this customer chose to go with a "SD" logo (San Diego Padres I do believe) my choice was just for BTF to cut their own logo into the steel.  No sense is doing something over the top or stupid.

You can also see the LED lightbar in this photo as well.  This lightbar won't be the only auxiliary lighting source on this bumper as my version will also have an additional bar that will go over top of the LED lights from which two additional HIDs will hand down from.

New Bumper Coming to a Nissan Frontier Near You...

well, closer to me than you actually...but you get the drift.

Brandon over at BTF Fabrication has the frame horns done at the moment and is finishing up the rest of the bumper currently.  It should ship within a couple weeks.

The 32" LED lightbar I showed a couple weeks ago will be mounted on the top of this bumper, as will two HIDs, ensuring optimum lighting and providing a bit of protection to my radiator/underside that I have previously lacked.  The front of my NISMO Stuff Racing Frontier is completely bare at the moment--no skid, no lower bumper cover, nothing...just the bare steel bumper...

As always, Brandon's work is top notch and beautiful to behold.  In the end, the bumper should look quite similar (though not exact) to the one seen on Gil Green's Frontier seen below except with a lasercut BTF logo in the front skid.

Coming Soon to the NISMO Stuff Racing Frontier...

Tis the offseason...and in the offseason, what do we do?  We look to make our race vehicles better.  Not just faster, but better. This addition to the race vehicle definitely falls into that category.  While not making the vehicle faster it will VASTLY increase the speed and safety at which the truck will be able to travel at night.

Until now, for the first full year of racing, I have relied solely upon the Frontier's stock headlights for illumination.  While the standard headlights are more than sufficient for highway and normal driving, they don't have nearly the distance and definition I would like for racing.  Instead of being able to gauge the road and terrain hundreds and hundreds of yards in advance as I can during the day, night time closes that distance down to say 50 yards, maybe less given the conditions.  When trying to go flat out on a road sometimes barely as wide as your vehicle, this is a major issue.

The 32" LED bar seen here will be mounted on the truck in the near future.  I won't give away how it will be mounted but that will be forthcoming soon.  Throwing out over 11,000 lumens this lightbar should provide plenty of light for me to navigate the forests at speed.  LED lights do have a reputation for being great at near and intermediate distance illumination but slightly lacking in their ability to light up objects at a distance.  Therefore the lightbar won't be the only additional lights.  Two eight inch HIDs will also be joining this lightbar to make sure I have all areas covered.
