Now This Is My Kind Of 240Z!

Modified to take on the Peking to Paris rally for pre 1975 cars.  This 240Z was rotisserie restored before being modified to handle offroad roads.  Not some garage queen, this was put on a boat and off to China for a 10,000 mile race that combines TSD and Special Stage style racing with a reported 50/50 mix of offroad/onroad terrain.

The host in the video is a bit of a goober but if you can make it past him, the owner/driver of the vehicle seems cool and down to earth and knowledgable about the history of offroad 240Zs which includes Baja and the East African Safari.  The R&T article and the team's Facebook page are linked to below.  They are currently in the middle of their race passing into Kazan, Russia yesterday and were busy cleaning off the Mongolian dirt.  You can see their progress, trials and tribulations in their posts...amazing that quality internet access seems to be almost EVERYWHERE now...

Nissan Patrol "Safari Edition"?

This is not a production model...but then again, in Dubai, anything goes.  Looks like someone chopped the top off the previous generation Nissan Patrol and turned it into a "Safari" style vehicle.  The work looks good but I wouldn't want that open top with all the delicate electronics and interior accouterments the way they are.  That will last about 15 minutes on a real safari.  It does look like it has come straight from the shop that did the work however as there is still plastic wrapping on the headrests.  Ahhh...the benefits of FU money...

Nissan Navara as Service Vehicle for Rainforest Challenge

Building upon its reputation in Australia and elsewhere in the Pacific, Nissan promoted the Navara (Frontier) in Malaysia recently with it acting as the official service vehicle for the annual Rainforest Challenge event.

These Navara's come equipped with a snorkel, ARB bull bar, WARN winch, OME shocks, IPF lights and Eaton Diff Locks amongst other goodies.

The event itself was won by (actually all three top positions were taken by) a Suzuki Jimny which, though not sold here in the US is still a fantastic little offroader and available in numerous markets throughout the world.
