Looks like the newest darling of the Tea Party movement is also a Lord of the Rings geek.
Christine O'Donnell has written a brief article on the role of women within the Lord of the Rings saga and has given a number of talks about Tolkein's work. I honestly agree with much of which she states--that women are not given short-shrift in Tolkein's stories but instead are given an admirable balance of what it means to be female.
If anything, men are more likely to fit a stereotype in the LOTR books with virtually all of them being warriors of one kind or another. Regardless, here are links to some of her work and articles about her geekdom.
